Today’s post is centred around a curt reply we often make to our adversaries- “what you think is none of my business”. Oh how powerful and victorious we feel when we say that. And thats exactly what we should do with the devil when he confronts us with all his deceitful questions and luring temptations …
Following extract from Charles Spurgeon’s Spiritual warfare in a Believer’s Life was the inspiration behind this post. He says:
“ Only be very courageous and confident and say to the fiend of hell, “Get thee hence, for the God who allowed me to be placed here never did forsake me and never will, and while He is for me, I will not fear:” What may occur is no business of mine; it rests with Him. It is mine to stand in the path of duty, for thus I shall be in the place of safety.”
When we truly trust and believe in Christ, we surrender to His Providence and believe in Romans 8:28- And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Spiritual maturity leads one to sing in John Ryland’s words:
Through floods and flames, if Jesus lead,
I’ll follow where He goes;
Hinder me not! shall be my cry,
Though earth and hell oppose.
Through duty, and through trials too,
I’ll go at His command;
Hinder me not! for I am bound
To my Immanuel’s land.
And when my Savior calls me home,
Still this my cry shall be,
Hinder me not! come, welcome death;
I’ll gladly go with Thee!
It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” – Deuteronomy 31:6-8.
This is the unbreakable promise that keeps every believer going, and to say it is none of my business to question what happens. For God is in charge and he is my Sheperd. All I need to be is a good sheep. One that hears his voice and follows in His path ( often a difficult and narrow path- thats by design I guess ). A practical challenge though is the testing of the faith of a new believer that often puts one in doubt of this narrow path and its trials. It is this situation that the enemy uses to derail us and it is exactly when we need to be able to say…None of my business. It’s God’s business.
